SKU# 6828160

This triple strand assorted bead necklace is handcrafted by artisans working with Tara Projects. Most of the artisans making jewelry are women, who benefit from the fact that they can work from home and thus maintain their responsibilities for their children and household.

These earrings are produced at Taga 8, a workshop working with Tara Projects. After establishing a relationship with Tara Projects about 10 years ago, Taga 8 quickly grew as more and more villagers started coming to ask for work. Taga 8 then started one of the area’s first self-help groups, allowing the young women to organize themselves and use their wages for the collective good. Since that time, they have established a six-month job training program, have expanded their infrastructure with help from Tara Projects’ capacity building fund, and have built a small computer training classroom for area children. They continue to experience a steady growth in sales, thanks in large part to the 35-plus styles of jewelry that they have produced for Ten Thousand Villages.
