SKU# 6115300

A tiny encircling spiral wraps these alpaca silver teardrop earrings. Sterling silver hooks. Alpaca silver is an alloy of zinc, nickel and copper. These earrings and matching necklace are made by Tika Rumi workshop, part of artisan group Intercrafts Peru. The name Tika Rumi has a wonderful story behind it. During the Shining Path reign of violence, a priest named Nefteali Licetta helped highland villagers develop alternative income sources. As the story is told, Father Licetta came to the Paucer family with a semiprecious stone and asked: “What can we get from this stone?” The answer was, “Many flowers for a woman.” In the indigenous Quecha language, “tika rumi” means “flower stone.” And out of this, a jewelry-producing artisan group was born.
