Go ahead, be a pig! Delightful little “chanchito,” the three-legged pig rumored to bring good luck to those he greets, adds a playful element to snack time. Made of local clay, from Pomaire, Chile.

Potters working with artisan group Comparte in Santiago, Chile, create this item using a large foot-powered potters’ wheel. After sun-drying, the piece is burnished with an agate stone before firing. The adobe firing oven, heated to 800-900 degrees C, is fueled by eucalyptus wood from plantations along Chile’s coast. Glazes and varnishes used on the products are all lead-free, making them food safe.
