The EthicMark Advertising Award has been given out every year since 2004 to highlight “advertising that uplifts the human spirit and society.” This year, Ten Thousand Villages was voted as co-winner of the non-profit award for its video, “World Fair Trade Day 2011.” (below) The World Resource Institute was the other non-profit co-winner for their video, “Sunita.”

Doug Dirks, Ten Thousand Villages CEO, said, "It is an honor to be recognized for the work we do to provide sustainable income to artisans in developing countries. This video allows us to bring their stories to market and fulfill our mission of empowering men and women around the world."

TOMS’, “One Day Without Shoes 2012 Trailer,” campaign won the for-profit award with Patagonia’s print ad, “Don’t Buy This Jacket,” as the second finalist.

For 2012, Ten Thousand Villages released the new campaign video “Every Product is a Miracle,” showcasing the journey and stories behind each product at Ten Thousand Villages. The aim of the video is to give a real sense for how extraordinary the process and organization is behind each artisan’s handmade, fair trade good.
