Rich colors of amber, black, brown, and cream form this buffalo horn mosaic frame mirror. 16 inches square, with 8-inch square mirror opening. Artisans working with Asha Handicrafts slit the horns, and heat them until softened. The horn can be shaped and molded to the wooden frame base. The horn is cut and sanded smooth, then finished with a six-stage buffing process. To achieve different colors and designs, artisans heat the horn again until it turns a caramel color and the softened surface can be crafted.
