About Us

About Ten Thousand Villages in Cambridge, MA

Ten Thousand Villages in Cambridge, MA, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of over 390 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.

As one of the world’s oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. A founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), Ten Thousand Villages sees fair trade as an alternative approach to conventional international trade.

NOCC Fundraiser - April 24, 2015

3pm - 5pm

The mission of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) is to save lives by fighting tirelessly to prevent and cure ovarian cancer, and to improve the quality of life for survivors.

Please join us on Friday, April 24 from 3-7pm when 10% of our sales will be donated to the Massachusetts Chapter of this phenomenal organization.

More than 20,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, and approximately 15,000 women die annually from the disease. Unfortunately, most cases are diagnosed in their later stages when the prognosis is poor. However, if diagnosed and treated early, when the cancer is confined to the ovary, the five-year survival rate is over 90 percent. That is why it is imperative that the early signs and symptoms of the disease are recognized, not only by women, but also by their families and the medical community.

The Work Force Fundraiser - April 26, 2015

12pm - 5pm

Join us in support of The Work Force, a Cambridge Housing Authority Youth Program.

On Sunday, April 26, we will be donating 10% of our sales to this outstanding organization whose mission is to foster the personal and professional growth of teens in public housing by helping them to gain the competencies they need – at home, school and work – to create their own pathways to educational and economic success.

Founded in 1984, The Work Force is a comprehensive after-school educational enrichment and work-readiness program for low-income teens in Cambridge public housing. Nearly 95% of participants enroll in college or a technical program upon completion. Over 90% are currently pursuing higher education and/or are employed. And, two-thirds of participants who completed the program four or more years ago are no longer living in public housing!

This event will take place during regular business hours at Ten Thousand Villages in:
Cambridge - 694 Mass Ave - (617) 876-2414
