The Democratic Republic of the Congo is located in the heart of Africa and is home to the second largest rainforest in the world. Formerly known as Zaire, Congo has long-endured economic and political instability. Approximately 200 ethnic groups live in Congo, including many refugees who've fled conflict in neighboring nations such as Uganda and Sudan.
Congo is currently one of the poorest nations in the world. Major industries include coffee, peanuts, cotton and sugarcane, which is how the majority of the populations makes a living.
