GE Workshop is a family workshop with artisans carving olive wood biblical figures, nativities and other items.
George El-Atrash, a Palestinian Christian, started his family workshop in Bethlehem in 1967. In 1976 he moved the workshop to neighboring Beit Sahour and began to involve his brothers in the business, and later two of his sons. Mr. El-Atrash has carved olive wood to sustain his family all his life.
Ten Thousand Villages purchases olive wood carvings of nativities, biblical figures and kitchenware from GE Workshop. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from GE Workshop (formerly El-Atrash Workshop) since 1978.
