A nonprofit organization, CD Bethesda is an outreach unit of Bethesda Hospital, the oldest hospital in Yogyakarta. Bethesda’s holistic health service includes building healthy, prosperous and self-reliant communities. The CD Bethesda handicraft production unit works with groups of artisans who create items from wood, leather, bamboo, ceramic, metal, batik and stone.

CD Bethesda’s handicraft production unit was established in 1988 to improve community living conditions and to raise funds for health care programs.

Ten Thousand Villages purchases Lombok water jars and masks, household accessories, seagrass and bamboo items, and jewelry from CD Bethesda. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from CD Bethesda since 1989.
