Alpacas are raised in the foothills of the Andes, near Lake Titicaca in Peru and Bolivia. Their fleece is sheared and processed into the finest quality fiber for weaving. Alpaca fiber is warmer and finer than sheep wool, so it is not prickly, and is hypoallergenic because it does not contain lanolin.
