A descending dove with olive branch brings peace to a village scene. This hand-painted cross ornament is handmade the artisans of La Semilla de Dios, “Seed of God,” an artisan group founded during El Salvador’s violent civil war. Decorative only. Keep out of reach of children.

La Semilla de Dios artisans cut out this ornament and other products from sun-dried wood. Artists draw the designs with ink pen, often drawing from memory and occasionally using stencils. Women usually paint the pieces by hand, a time-consuming process that requires a lot of concentration. They touch up and varnish the pieces when the paint dries.
