  • Beautiful mood lighting

    This lamp has a beautiful glow. It adds just the right amount of light in our living room in the evening when we're watching TV. The pattern looks lovely when it is lit up. The white color matches anything.

  • Beautiful Lamp

    This lamp looks so nice in my living room. It is very refreshing and goes so well with all kinds of decor. What a reasonable price for such a beautiful lamp.

    I bought this because of the price (a lamp and shade for $34!) and I hoped it would work with a CFL bulb and it does, the lighter paper hides the bulb and a heavier paper shows the design. I didn't expect it to be as beautiful as it is so I've decided to buy another and make them my side lamps. The cord is nice and long with an on/off switch. Excellent value, gorgeous product.

Pattern your room with the birds and flowers thrown by light from this unusual lamp. Innovative design features heavy cotton paper cut out in traditional designs that decorate doors and windows for village celebrations. With cord-bound corners and bamboo base.

Artisans with Shuktara (“morning star”) workshop in southern Bangladesh use cast-off remnants from Bangladesh’s garment factories to produce this paper. The entire creation of this product—cutting out the designs, and constructing the shade and base—is done by hand. “Traditionally we use this kind of cut-out design to decorate our doors and windows and the front of our houses for weddings and village celebrations,” says designer Suraiya Chowdhury. “For these events, though, we use very bright colors!”

Shuktara workshop is part of Prokritee, a handicraft organization in Bangladesh that trains rural women to produce paper, baskets and other items.
