Description

This fun bottle opener is handmade from recycled bike chain, finished bronze. Through innovative recycling, artisans of Noah’s Ark, an artisan group in Moradabad, India, fashion items like this from recycled bicycle chain. The cost of metals has skyrocketed in recent years, which has had a devastating effect on the local economy and on the lives of metal workers in Moradabad. Noah’s Ark has worked hard to train artisans in using alternative metals and materials.

I just picked up my fourth little snake opener today - a gift for my brother. Get your husband one of these and you will never hear again "Where is the bottle opener?" We always know where ours is - hanging right on the wall by the silverware drawer. I also got one for my son.... one for a friend on his 60th birthday (we cracked open a cold one - Root Beer that is - and enjoyed. I gave him a cold six pack of root beer to go with the opener).

My husband thought my brother would enjoy one (as he really liked the junk rhino sculpture from Kenya I bought Fair Trade from another source), so I picked one up today for him for Christmas. My Christmas shopping for the Christmas always begins right after Christmas. I have a stash of Fair Trade items already. I will have to look for some "Dad's" root beer in bottles for my brother as our Dad really liked Root Beer. I like giving him gifts with "stories" to tell..... Of course, the rhino had a story all his own.
