Rejoice in each other. The Lost Wax Family Candleholder is a special gift to celebrate the importance of the people closest to you. Sculpted in bronze with green and gold patina accents, mother, father, daughter and son hold hands around the base of this candleholder. To create this unforgettable piece, makers first build a model made of beeswax and encase it in clay. Once the clay hardens, the wax is melted to create a mold of the figure inside. Liquid bronze is poured into the mold and once it sets, the clay is broken to reveal the bronze figure. This “lost wax” technique dates back hundreds of years and provides much needed employment opportunities to people in Burkina Faso.

These three centers double as workshops and exhibition spaces. In addition, a few of the artisans work in their homes. Read more.
