An emphatic affirmation for a special friend: “You rock.” This rocking rock is hand-carved palewa soapstone from India. It’s a great paperweight and a fun conversation piece. Palewa soapstone, sourced in Agra, India, is well-known as a carving soapstone. It comes in shades of green, gray and tan, which darken when polished.

I know it's meant as a paperweight, but something about these rocks makes holding them very soothing. They fit in my hand perfectly, and the texture and coolness is very pleasant. They come in different sizes and shapes (some are closer to a circle than an oval) so if you're looking for an unconventional worry stone maybe buy it in person so you can try holding a few.

I bought it with a friend in mind who gets almost childlike glee out of puns. I kept the stone for a couple weeks, and it would remind me of how excited she gets, and that would make me happy. When she started going through a rough time I had a perfect gift in my pocket to remind her of how awesome she is.

Then when I was back in the store a few months later I was drawn to them again - they're still lovely to hold, and now it also reminds me of my friend's joy, so I got myself one to match. I am really impressed by how much happiness I associate with such a simple item.
