A little birdhouse for the holiday tree, hand-carved and etched from a dried gourd. Decorative only. Keep out of reach of children.

Artisans of Manos Amigas in Lima, Peru, harvest ripe gourds, peel them and dry them in the sun. The artisans then carve the design on the gourd, after which they accent the designs with red-hot pieces of burned wood or a small gas torch. When the burning is complete the gourd is painted.
