Jatropha SoapPRINT THIS PAGE

SKU: 4702030

SKU# 4702030

Our jatropha soap is handmade by artisans in Arusha, Tanzania, using the oil of jatropha seeds harvested in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Long prized for its medicinal qualities, jatropha has been used as an ingredient in folk remedies around the world—as a malaria treatment, and for soothing skin ailments. In addition, the hardy plant is used as a windbreak for animals, as live fencing and for biofuel used in lamps and cook stoves. Jatropha is excellent in preventing soil erosion, and the leaves dropped by the plant act as soil-enriching mulch.

This non-edible seed oil, blended with coconut oil, is now being used as the basis of this silky smooth soap.
