Traditional blockprint pillow from the artisans of Aravali, based in Jaipur. Aravali supports small-scale workshops, alternatives to large factories.

Aravali works to preserve traditional block print motifs, often introducing a modern twist in design or color. Block printing is a labor-intensive method to hand-print fabric. Artisans imprint the cloth with hand-carved wooden blocks. The printer moves left to right, stamping the cloth, repeating to cover the entire cloth with the intended design and colors. These teak blocks come in many different shapes and sizes. Each has a guide or registration point to dovetail both designs and colors.
