  • I have used 3 of these drums

I have owned three of these drums over the years. Two of them have had excellent tone, one was quite poor. I once ordered one of these and when it came in, I tried it and it was suited only for a coffee table. The tone was terrible. I would not purchase this for use as a drum without being able to play it first.
However, it is a wonderful instrument when it has good tone. I have had to keep it dehumidified in the summer or it loses its tone completely.

SKU# 4101080

This large drum is commonly referred to as a “meza” drum, which, in the Swahili language, means table. These drums are sometimes used to accompany a band, but are also used as coffee tables. Only dry items should be placed on a drum table. The drum skins are cow hide and the frame of the drum is made from salvaged and recycled wood crates and pallets. Most of the artisans making these drums are musicians themselves, and make a wide variety of drums.
