Safe Harbors

From ports of call around the world to the safe harbor of your home, these gifts and accents celebrate the docks and wharves — the spaces where the work is done. Inspired by rope and riggings, wood weathered by winds and waves, storied crafts anchor this seaworthy style.

Manna on Mondays & Food Cupboard Fridays

On Mondays & Fridays only, non-perishable foods (dry food basics, peanut butter and canned foods), personal care items (deodorant, soap, feminine care products, toothbrushes, toothpaste) and baby basic needs (diapers, wipes, formula, food) are collected in our store at 101 West State Street in Media, PA.(Donors who wish to shop in our store that day will save 15% on their purchase excluding all other discounts; and we thank them in advance for their generosity.)

About Us

About Ten Thousand Villages in Media, PA

Ten Thousand Villages in Media, PA, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of over 390 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.

As one of the world’s oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. A founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), Ten Thousand Villages sees fair trade as an alternative approach to conventional international trade.

The store is located at the corner of West State and South Olive Streets in suburban downtown Media, PA, First Fair Trade Town in the United States and the home of 2nd Saturday, a monthly arts and music stroll that takes place between 6 and 9 pm. Please visit www.visitmediapa.com to help plan your visit to town, and www.media.tenthousandvillages to check for special events here in our store

Ready for a fancy Friday out or a comfy Saturday in (just like she is!), the DENIM BLUESY SCARF is hand-woven by the Nepali artisans of Manushi, a name that translates to “energetic woman.” The group works to empower rural women with skills that create income opportunities and self-confidence.

Harvested from trees in northern Ghana, shea nuts are processed by hand into rich moisturizing butter by women living in Ghana’s poorest region, providing them vital income to feed, clothe and educate their families.
