Women for Women International

Ten Thousand Villages is proud to promote the Share recipe book from Women for Women International.

Women for Women International provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to sustainability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies.

Women for Woman International finds “sister sponsors” for women in war-torn areas. Sponsorship means a monthly donation to one woman for one year. This money is used towards skills training, rights awareness, health education, and the basic needs of her family. Sisterhood means emotional support. Sister sponsors write letters—messages of hope—to remind them that even though they may have suffered unimaginable loss and degradation, they are still human beings with bright futures ahead of them.

…through letters with sister sponsors is a direct and personal approach to support. Women are given the opportunity to connect on an emotional level which builds a mutually beneficial relationship and bond.

The Share cookbook is one way you can support this organization and change the lives of women around the world. Food is a vital symbol of independence. It nourishes us physically, and emotionally. Food represents cultural identity and pride shared with our families and friends.

Share features global recipes to give you a taste of all the cultures being reached by the organization, demonstrated in full-color photography. The Share cookbook will be available in Ten Thousand Villages stores beginning July 1. 100% of the publisher’s profits go directly to the organization.
