Outrageous can be oh-so-fun, like this fat little delightful hippopotamus. Carved dark kisii stone, hand-painted in assorted splashy designs. Kisii soapstone, found only in Kenya, is a soft stone, easy to carve into many forms. Its satiny finish is achieved through multiple stages of sanding, followed by waxing. In some cases, as with this piece, artisans also apply paint.

Practically Perfect in Every Way

Hippos are my favorite animal, so a very good friend gifted me one of these for Christmas this year. She's the cutest! I can't wait to take her to work so I can look at her every day.

Artrageous would be a better title - just adorable!

My larger Kenya Hippo has a baby now. I just adore my hippos. I also bought several of the larger Hippos for gifts - and know I will buy more of the babies, too. Each little baby hippo I have seen is different - such great fun! My "Grand Niece" likes to play with the hippo I bought for my brother, so I am buying a small hippo for her (for Christmas --- as she sang a song for me "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" - so she shall get one).
