Phoenician Glass CarafePRINT THIS PAGE

SKU: 2706020

SKU# 2706020

Deep blues and black shape the swirling patterns of this richly colored Phoenician glass carafe. The flowing patterns complement the rounded carafe shape with its arching handle and stopper. Assorted colors and patterns include green and red accents.

Hebron’s glass making dates to the 14th century; the city still has a section named Glass Blower Quarter. Recycled bottles are smashed into pieces and melted in high temperature ovens. In Phoenician glass blowing, artisans add substances to the molten glass, with the resulting reaction creating a range of colors within each piece. Working with this process takes an especially skilled hand, and is reserved for the true masters of the art. Each piece has its own unique blend of color and pattern.
