Ten Thousand Villages Announces CEO Retirement
June 1, 2006 - Ten Thousand Villages, the oldest and largest fair trade retail organization in the United States, announces the retirement of Paul Myers, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective June 1, 2006.

Myers, who has extensive experience within the fair trade movement, served as Ten Thousand Villages Executive Director from 1989 through 2003. Myers said, "As I leave the position of Chief Executive Officer at Ten Thousand Villages, I reflect with humbleness and a deep sense of appreciation on the privilege of having walked with the many employees, store staff and customers on this journey of growing Ten Thousand Villages into the organization it is today. "

Myers continued, "I have learned much from the artisans and from the poor over many cups of tea. They have much to teach us when we take time to listen and share our experiences with each other. "
