Ten Thousand Villages Products Featured on ABCs New Hit Drama Series Commander in Chief
A few months ago a couple came into the Ten Thousand Villages store in Richmond, VA and purchased products to decorate sets for a new ABC television series, Commander in Chief. The show, starring Geena Davis and Donald Sutherland, debuted two weeks ago to great reviews. During the pilot episode, there was a scene with Geena Davis and Donald Sutherland sitting in a study that was furnished with several Ten Thousand Villages products. Geena Davis was sitting next to an end table that was decorated with a handmade paper frame from the Philippines and two hand carved shesham wood boxes from India. During the scene, Geena Davis held an embroidered pillow from Guatemala. Commander In Chief airs Tuesday nights at 9/8c on ABC. Keep an eye out for more Ten Thousand Villages products in upcoming episodes and shop online to find more hand crafted home decor items!
Ten Thousand Villages Artisans from El Salvador and Guatemala Report
on the Aftermath of Tropical Storm "Stan"
October 11, 2005
Tropical storm Stan made landfall on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula on October 4, 2005. The storm has caused severe flooding and mudslides in El Salvador, Guatemala and southern Mexico. Mennonite Central Committee is responding to the crisis and Ten Thousand Villages has been trying to make contact with our artisan partners in the affected area. So far we have received updates from Baltazar Garcia of Taller Jesus Artesano in El Salvador and from Domingo Reanda of Creaciones Chonita, in Guatemala. Our thoughts are with our artisan partners in El Salvador and Guatemala as they cope with the devastating aftermath of the storm.
