Filigreed golden scrollwork forms the hoops of these hand-worked hook earrings. Gold-colored metal earrings, individually crafted by the artisans of Tara Projects in India. Each earring is individually created by wrapping wire around an intricate mold. Most of the artisans making jewelry are women, who benefit from the fact that they can work from home and thus maintain their responsibilities for their children and household.

Tara Projects, working a radius of about 125 miles from Delhi, is a fair trade program for community development and business. Tara enables several hundred artisans who create some of the major handicraft lines of north India to sell their products internationally. Tara Projects is one of the pioneering Indian organizations in providing fair wages, non-formal education programs for children and women and further development for its artisan members.
