Who we are

Ten Thousand Villages in Seattle, WA, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of over 390 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.

As one of the world’s oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. A founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), Ten Thousand Villages sees fair trade as an alternative approach to conventional international trade.

Your Thousand Villages Store in Seattle is open from Noon to 8:00PM Monday through Saturday and Noon to 7:00PM on Sunday. We are an active organization so stay tuned to this website and our Facebook pages to learn about our Community Sales Events (fundraisers for other nonprofit organizations), opportunities to volunteer, the Book Club, and events at “offsites” where we offer Ten Thousand Villages gifts at locations throughout Washington State. Think of our store for every special moment you want to find a truly unique gift that benefits artisans around the world. Imagine the good you do here.

Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World by Bill Clinton

From Amazon.com, “Here, from Bill Clinton, is a call to action. Giving is an inspiring look at how each of us can change the world. First, it reveals the extraordinary and innovative efforts now being made by companies and organizations—and by individuals—to solve problems and save lives both “down the street and around the world.” Then it urges us to seek out what each of us, “regardless of income, available time, age, and skills,” can do to help, to give people a chance to live out their dreams.”
