  • Healing cream - beautiful container!

This shea butter cream really does heal. I bought it as much for the beautiful clay container complete with hand made glass bead. My hands are very sensitive to fragrances in most hand creams, but they love this shea butter cream. I keep three freshwater fish aquariums so my hands are in and out of water quite a bit. Hand sanitizers were making my skin raw and this hand cream healed them right away (look up benefits of shea butter -you will be amazed). I keep my cream with its handsome container proudly displayed with my African art objects. It fits right in! Seeing the beautiful recycled glass beads (from Ghana) at Ten Thousand Villages really peaked my interest in African made beads. I now have several African made Krobo beads (powder glass and recycled glass) and African Trade Bead necklaces.

Our newest body care product, fair trade shea butter hand and foot cream. Artisans in Accra, Ghana, source the shea butter locally. It is hand-processed by two other groups that harvest nuts from shea trees. Ghanaians use shea butter for a wide variety of purposes, including cooking, moisturizing and as an anti-inflammatory.

Shea nuts are very hard, and require a multi-stage process before they can be used. In addition to the harvesting and processing of shea butter, and the production of the cream itself, this product provides work for fairly paid artisans who produce the ceramic container and the recycled glass beads used for decoration.
