Whimsical silk elephant ornament is handcrafted by an artisan workshop in northwestern Cambodia. The elephant is adorned with traditional Khmer ikat. Following years of war, Cambodia is reviving traditional arts such as silk production and weaving. This almost-lost art is now providing valuable income for young Cambodian women.

With few opportunities, women in this area often move to larger cities, where they are at risk. This project encourages them to stay in their own community. The elephant is adorned with traditional Khmer ikat, in Cambodia called “hol.”
