This large drum is commonly referred to as a “meza” drum, which, in the Swahili language, means table. These drums are sometimes used to accompany a band, but are also used as coffee tables. Only dry items should be placed on a drum table. The drum skins are cow hide and the frame of the drum is made from salvaged and recycled wood crates and pallets. Most of the artisans making these drums are musicians themselves. See for more instructions.
