Print Story Card

Burkina Faso artisans create this unique wall hanging from traditional bogolan, or “mud cloth.” A Ten Thousand Villages exclusive design. Traditional mud cloth is made from coarse cotton thread woven into strips and stitched together. Artisans dip, paint and dye the cloth. A thin mixture of aged mud is placed over the natural dyes. Minerals in the mud help dyes attach permanently to the fabric. After the drying process, artisans remove the mud and reveal the beautiful design.
