About Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park, FL
Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park, FL, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of over 390 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.
As one of the world’s oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. A founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), Ten Thousand Villages sees fair trade as an alternative approach to conventional international trade.
Community Shopping Benefits
If you are looking for a unique way to raise money for a special nonprofit or cause, consider a Shopping Benefit at Ten Thousand Villages Winter Park. Simply invite your membership to shop at the store during a designated day and time, and a percentage of the sales will be donated back to your organization.
Your friends and colleagues will enjoy shopping for gifts that give in three ways: to the artisans we support; to your own special cause; and to the person receiving the gift. For more information call our store at 407-644-8464.

Assistant Store Manager Nancy Scheid
Assistant Store Manager, made her first purchase from Ten Thousand Villages 25 years ago while living in the Amish area of PA. She immediately fell in love with the store and the mission. She has been volunteering in the Winter Park store since the first day it opened in 2006. Since then she has been a dedicated volunteer, a member of the Board of Directors and a part-time Off Site Sales and Visual Merchandising Director. Nancy’s degrees are in Early Childhood Education and Family Social Work. After almost 40 years in Children’s Ministry she retired in October of 2013 to follow her passion, which led her to the position that she currently holds in the Winter Park store.

Meet Our Volunteers
Bev’s Reason Why:
"I volunteer because I need a balance in my life. I've spent my career working for very wealthy people. I love the work I do, but there was always something missing. I always wanted to be able to help people who aren't as blessed. I've always respected Ten Thousand Villages so the opening of the (Winter Park) store gave me the opportunity to help."
Carol’s Reason Why:
"I love being surrounded by beautiful things and happy people, while helping others in developing countries make a living for themselves"
Karen’s Reason Why:
"Traveling or living in many of the countries represented by Ten Thousand Villages, I was able to see many of the artisans creating the beautiful arts and crafts that can be found in the stores. I love working with such wonderful people and knowing that I am helping to support those hardworking folks."
Kristina’s Reason Why:
"Because I love it! I love what the store is about and what fair trade entails. I support their efforts knowing that a difference will be made."
Marty’s Reason Why:
"Building community and learning people's stories are spiritual practices for me. Ten Thousand Villages feeds my spirit.”

Join us for our 3rd Annual Wickets to Fair Trade Croquet Tournament and Benefit on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the beautiful Case Feliz.
Players of all ages and skill levels are invited to come out for a friendly and competitive game. Between sets, players are invited to enjoy refreshments and shopping at Ten Thousand Villages, just a few moments walk down Park Avenue.
The event cost is $50 per team of two or $40 for a student team. Equipment is provided, although you are welcome to bring your own mallet if you have one.
The funds raised at the 2014 Wickets to Fair Trade event will benefit the Ten Thousand Villages Learning Tours Fund, which allows members of our local community to directly connect with our artisan partners in developing nations and see firsthand how Fair Trade impacts their lives and communities.
Last year, through this unique and fun event, we were able to raise enough funds for a Ten Thousand Villages team member to attend a learning tour for the second time since our store opened in 2006. In February 2014, Ten Thousand Villages Assistant Manager Nancy Scheid will visit our artisan partners in Peru. Nancy is excited to meet our artisan partners and their families, to tour their workshops and learn how Fair Trade has impacted their lives and communities.
We hope you will join us to hear Nancy's stories and to share a fun day of croquet with us!
