About Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park, FL
Ten Thousand Villages in Winter Park, FL, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of over 390 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.
As one of the world’s oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. A founding member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), Ten Thousand Villages sees fair trade as an alternative approach to conventional international trade.
Community Shopping Benefits
If you are looking for a unique way to raise money for a special nonprofit or cause, consider a Shopping Benefit at Ten Thousand Villages Winter Park. Simply invite your membership to shop at the store during a designated day and time, and a percentage of the sales will be donated back to your organization.
Your friends and colleagues will enjoy shopping for gifts that give in three ways: to the artisans we support; to your own special cause; and to the person receiving the gift. For more information call our store at 407-644-8464.
Manager, Jennifer Trombino-Schroeder
Jennifer Schroeder first discovered Ten Thousand Villages after reading a newspaper article about the newly opened Winter Park store in 2006. After her first visit to the store she was hooked, and when a store manager position opened in May 2007, she excitedly applied and was hired. Jennifer has over fifteen years of retail experience. She earned her bachelor's degree in Art History at the University of Colorado in 2003, and her master's degree in Nonprofit Management at the University of Central Florida in 2009. In February 2011, Jennifer participated in a Ten Thousand Villages Learning tour to India and Bangladesh, where she had an opportunity to meet some of the organization’s artisan partners.
Assistant Store Manager, Nancy Scheid
Assistant Store Manager, made her first purchase from Ten Thousand Villages 25 years ago while living in the Amish area of PA. She immediately fell in love with the store and the mission. She has been volunteering in the Winter Park store since the first day it opened in 2006. Since then she has been a dedicated volunteer, a member of the Board of Directors and a part-time Off Site Sales and Visual Merchandising Director. Nancy’s degrees are in Early Childhood Education and Family Social Work. After 30 years in Children’s Ministry she retired in October of 2013 to follow her passion, which led her to the position that she currently holds in the Winter Park store. In February 2014, Nancy participated in a Ten Thousand Villages Learning tour to Peru, where she had an opportunity to meet some of the organization’s artisan partners.

Meet Our Volunteers
Bev’s Reason Why:
"I volunteer because I need a balance in my life. I've spent my career working for very wealthy people. I love the work I do, but there was always something missing. I always wanted to be able to help people who aren't as blessed. I've always respected Ten Thousand Villages so the opening of the (Winter Park) store gave me the opportunity to help."
Carol’s Reason Why:
"I love being surrounded by beautiful things and happy people, while helping others in developing countries make a living for themselves"
Dale’s Reason Why:
"I love volunteering at Ten Thousand villages to be able to promote our mission of helping artisans in developing countries use their creative talents to make a living through our partnerships with them. I have been volunteering at the Winter Park store for 7 years now."
Jenny’s Reason Why:
"I am a new volunteer, and discovered Ten Thousand Villages as a customer. I absolutely love all of the merchandise in the store. Most importantly, I love that it is a fair trade store and is supporting artisans in developing countries. It's great to volunteer here, knowing that I am helping others."
Richard’s Reason Why:
"I volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages because it is a very worthy cause--helping families obtain a decent life. The store is beautiful and Winter Park is a fun place to volunteer and visit. You also get to work with and meet some lovely ladies.”

On Saturday, May 2nd, please join us at Ten Thousand Villages of Winter Park for a Shopping Benefit to support our artisan partners at Bombolulu Workshops in Kenya.
Bombolulu suffered a devastating fire in their facility recently. To help the group recover, we will hold a Community Shopping Event on Saturday, May 2. On that day, 10% of ALL sales in Ten Thousand Villages stores and the E-Commerce website will be donated to Bombolulu to help with their rebuilding fund.
If you are unable to attend the shopping benefit on Saturday, May 2nd, you can donate online by following the link below. 100% of your donation will go directly to The Rebuild Fund for Bombolulu Workshops.
No amount is too small. If all of our friends, volunteers and customers could donate $5.00, it would be a major contribution to the rebuilding of The Bombolulu Workshops. Any amount is greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your contribution.
