Welcome to our global maker-to-market movement where, together with 20,000 artisans, we ignite social change. We create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities in developing countries to thrive through strong relationships, fair wages, safe working conditions, and sustainable practices.
In India, the body is believed to have seven centers of energy called chakras. Each of these seven semiprecious stones set in sterling silver represents an energy center that's vital to our being. While most chakra jewelry is shown in a straight line, ours is designed in a curve—both for added aesthetic, and also to mimic the curve of the spine. Amethyst: Crown, Enlightenment; Sapphire: Third Eye, Vision; Blue Topaz: Throat, Communication; Peridot: Heart, Love; Citrine: Solar Plexus, Courage and Will; Carnelian: Sacral, Passion; Garnet: Root; Physical Wellbeing
HANDCRAFTED IN INDIA
Craft Resource Center (CRC) helps informally organized artisan groups to develop self-sustaining businesses. CRC seeks to develop economic self-sufficiency for a vulnerable segment of society through traditional handcrafting skills. CRC provides marketing, design, finance and exporting assistance to a large number of artisan groups across India. CRC also provides raw materials, production coordination between groups and additional training. CRC considers artisans more important than products. This concern for artisans translates into a broader commitment to help others within the CRC network. Because of CRC’s coordination of craft production between different artisan groups, artisans have a high level of connection and cooperation. Artisan groups have been able to work together in partnership in times of need. Ten Thousand Villages has purchased products from CRC since 1993.
