STORY
An olive wood nativity playing "Silent Night" was carved nearby in Beit Sahour. Near Bethlehem, where angels heralded Jesus'; birth, Raja Bannoura and his family hand-carve nativities from pruned olive branches. Since Raja started the workshop in 1974, olive wood nativities, ornaments and carvings have provided hope and harmony as neighbors have worked together creating beautifully carved figures in a community unsettled by civil violence. The music box is hidden in the roof of the stable. Wind the star to hear the melody.

Such a magnificent piece of art hand craved from pruned olive branches, plays beautiful melody! So glad I made this purchase and also supported the artisans

Beautiful, meaningful, affordable piece

This year, I really wanted to add a nativity scene to my Christmas decor. I didn't have a lot of money or space, and I wanted something meaningful that I could pass down to my own child someday. This was an absolutely perfect choice for us. The origin and the story of the artisans embody the spirit of the season, and it makes an impact without encroaching on our small space. It's well constructed and sturdy enough that I am comfortable letting my 5 year old handle it (supervised!). I hope to add more pieces from Ten Thousand Villages as our home and family grows.
