With each wrapping, the fiber is threaded through the previous coil to form the basket. Raffia fibers are used in textiles, basket-making, rope-making, garden string, construction and for roofing.

Beautiful Basket!

This is a beautiful basket. Lovely colors & well made. And, knowing that I’m supporting a Ten Thousand Village artist is an extra plus!!! Plan to buy more.

Burgundy Twist Basket

Looks great and for the value. Color is a dark burgundy but the white and yellow colors really shine.

Beautiful craftsmanship and color

I have a friend from South Africa and have been collecting African baskets for awhile. I want fair trade baskets, and ones made with beauty and skill. This basket is beautiful and I plan to display it on a wall with other baskets in my collection.
