STORY

Delicate in pearly white, this stunning necklace is made from capiz, the thin shell of a marine mollusk. First artisans wash and soak shells. After the shells have dried, they are cut into shapes and edged with metal wire. A finishing coat of varnish completes this labor-intensive process. Before glass windows became available in the Philippines, capiz was used for windows in houses.

broke during 2nd wear

I loved this necklace but was really disappointed when the chain between the shells snapped when I was wearing it while sitting at a desk. I wasn't rough with this necklace. I would hesitate to recommend this no matter how nice it looks.

Gorgeous and practical

The colors on this necklace are very subtle and will go with neutrals like white, cream, taupe, gray, and black as well as brights. The circles aren't too large. Just slightly larger than a dime. This has quickly become a favorite of mine.
