Escape Adulting: Dessert for Dinner
We get it. We’re adults now. With student loans flooding our mailboxes, dentist’s appointments, oil changes filling our schedule, and errands needing to be conquered, it’s sometimes difficult to remember the simpler times as kids hanging out in our blanket forts playing board games.
But there’s a flip side: we finally have that freedom we always wanted. And nobody can tell you that donuts can’t be dinner.
It’s time to take a break from adulting.
Slide your to-do list off the kitchen table and make room for the cookies that substitute a typical supper side dish so perfectly.
Because you’re an adult—and you’ve earned it.
Chocolate, jelly-filled, coconut, cake, and iced. Find a local bakery and pick out your very favorites. With so many unique donut flavors available now (maple bacon, anyone?) it’s time to go on a delicious adventure.
Don’t forget about drinks.
Sure, you can have soda pop. Or play the grown-up card and pour some pink champagne. But if you really want to be a kid about it, add some mini marshmallows to your milk to replicate the flavor of Saturday morning sugary cereal milk. Chocolate milk with marshmallows also makes a tantalizing beverage lighter than a milkshake, but still just as delicious.
Move over, boring side dishes! Cookies are a much better accompaniment for this delightfully rule-breaking dinner of sweets. Why not have some delectable dunking desserts with your milk?
With a dinner full of dessert, it’s only fair to invite some friends over. (Besides—any excuse to escape adulting for an evening is cause for celebration!) Whether you shop for the best locally made treats, or even bring some of your own to the table, the most important part is that you let go and let yourself be a kid again.
We all want to be together, relax, and escape adulting for a little while. The dessert is just the icing on the cake.
If you got to pick your dessert dinner, what would be on your sugary menu?
